Icelandic Championship 2009

The Icelandic Chess Championship take place in the northwest part of Iceland in a small town called Bolungarvik.

From Bolungarvik comes the winner of last year Icelandic Team Championship.

The winner of last years and ten times Champion, Hannes Hlifar Stefansson, will not play in the tournament this year. It creates a opportunity for other players to win the trophy.
