Bulgaria Chess Master: I made a mistake in the second game
Sports April 26, 2010, Monday
The Bulgarian chess master Veselin Topalov admitted that he had started “on a wrong footing” in the second game against the world chess champion.
On Sunday, Topalov lost to his opponent, the Indian-born world chess champion Viswanathan Anand at the 43rd move.
In an interview for one of the biggest Spanish sports daily, Topalov said that he had planned and started the whole game in a wrong way, adding that the second game was a lot tougher than the first one.
Anand on the other hand commented that he had played well and had concentrated on winning the game after the 28th move.
Topalov won the opening game on the 31st move on Saturday. Thus, the score so far is 1:1 with ten more games to go.
The two chess masters will have a break on Monday, and will face one another again on Tuesday when Topalov will be with the white pieces.

Yes. Anand also made a mistake in the 1st game and he lost.
What is the mistake that Topalov says he made. I was wondering what he felt was his mistake.
I believe the mistake was the move 25…Ne3. This gave up the slight advantage he had.
There was no reason to trade off the well positioned knight at d5 for the less active bishop at d2.
In the process the d-pawn got diverted from d4 to e3 where it lost most of its strength.
Susan ,that nigel short is a real funny guy! but i like TMZ much better!! They caught judge mathis with a mustache and they put up a picture of judge joe brown and u know what they looked just alike!!! i used to think people was crazy for sayin we look alike but now Um beginning to realize i might actually get “confused” with Ashley!!! hehe.
I also don’t understand why he didn’t identify Ne3 as the mistake. Azmaiparashvili in his live commentary said also that that was a bad move, disconnecting Black’s position. After that Black’s position fell apart and he lost both queenside pawns, etc.
If he had just done nothing instead, what could White have done?
Yeah, his mistake was playing the World Champion, Vishy.
doing nothing isn’t an option. he could choose to loose in some other way, that is the only other thing he could do in that position.
