Yesterday was a historical day for Victorian and Australian chess!

205 girls competed in the 2016 Chess Victoria Secondary and Primary Girl Schools Finals.This was the record number of girls for day tournament in Victoria and Australia!!

In the Primary Schools division 127 players represented 26 schools with youngest player being only 7-years old!

The top 11 teams were

1.Mount View Primary School–29 points from 35 games

3.St.Andrews Christian College–24
4.Balwyn North Primary School–23
6.Alphington Primary School-19.5
7.Lauriston Girls School-19.5
8.Sandringham Primary School-19

Top individual performances were

1-3 —Shalana Powell, Chao Xin Cheng and Emily Lin—6.5 points from 7 games each.

4-7—Zoe Luescher,Chao Shien Cheng,Arica Mane,Zoe Jones—6 points each.

8.Phi Elizabeth Vuong—5.5.

In the Secondary Schools division 78 players represented 17 schools.

1.Presbyterian Ladies College( PLC)—30 points from 35 games
2.Balwyn High School–22
3.MacRobertson High School–22
5.Sacred Heart Girls College–19.
