1.Bxc6 Bxc6+ 2.Qxc6 is as far as I was able to get Susan.
1. Rxd7 Nxd7 2. Qxc6 and black is lost.
There may be a better line than the following, but it seems to work:
1. Bxc6, Bxc6
else if 1… c2, 2. Qd8+ Nc8, 3. Rxd7 and 4. Rb7# or 4. Qc7#
2. Qxc6 Qd5+
3. QxQ NxQ
4. Rd7 Nb6 (to defend against 5. Rh8#)
5. Rh8+ Nc8
6. R8h7 Nb6
7. Rb7+ Kc8
8. R/any-c7+ and 9. RxB
white is up an exchange, and has a crushing attack.
Ive looked at Bxc6 but black can defend and still be ahead.. this is much more complicated problem than it might appear to be..
Bxc6 Bc8
Qg7 Nd7
you see what im saying. keep in ming that black pawn is going to promote.. this becomes quite complex..Ive also looked at trying to get the queen and bishop along the h1 – a8 diagonal.
Rh8+ Nc8
Rxc8+ Bxc8
Qxc6
Better is:
1. Rxd7
if 1… Qxd7
2. Bxc6 Qd4
3. Rh8+ Kc7
4. Rh7+
now if 4… Kb8
5. Qh8+ Nc8
6 Rb7#
or if 4…. Kc8
5. Qh8+ Qd8
6. Bb7+ wins
—
if 1… Nxd7 (after 1. Rxd7):
2. Qxc6
and 3. Qb7#
Black has a stronger defense in the previous line with 2… Qc7 instead of 2… Qd4.
1. Rxd7, Qxd7
2. Bxc6 Qc7
3. Rh8+ Nc8
However, after 4. Be4, the threat is 5. Rh7.
4. Be4, Be7
5. Qe6 Bd8*
6. Qd5 wins
* or
5. … a6
6. Qd5 Rh7
7. Bf5 wins
1. Rxd7 Qxd7 (1. … Nxd7 2. Rh8+ Nf8 3. Rxf8+ Bxf8 4. Qxc6)
2. Rh7 Nd5 ( or 2. … Qxh7 3. Bxh7 Kb7 4. Qg7+ Ka6 5. Qh6)
3. Rxd7 Nxf6
4. exf6 b4
5. Ke2 Kc8
6. Bf5 Kb8
7. g4 a5
8. g5 etc.
Happy Thanksgiving.
