Happy Birthday to legendary Grandmaster Lothar Schmid. He was born on the May 10, 1929 in Germany (Dresden area). He was awarded the IM title in 1951, and the GM and GMC titles in 1959. I recently met him (less than a month ago) when I visited Dresden.
