This yearly event usually brings many well-known GMs together in an extremely strong blitz tournament. This year’s championship, which took place on August 26, was no exception.
Alexander Grischuk (2726) became the sole victor with a brilliant result: 17 points out of 19 (four draws), 3 points ahead of the closest pursuers!
Final standings after 19 rounds:
1. Grischuk – 17 points
2-3. Bareev, Malakhov – 14
4. Nepomniachtchi – 13
5. Korotylev – 12
6. Najer – 11½
7. B. Savchenko – 11
8-9. Dvalishvili, Zvjagintsev – 10½, etc.

Its floors are amazingly worn down inside, the bricks literally rubbed into deep ruts.
Stalin ordered it torn down, but was talked out of it.
