The 29th Genève International Chess Open was held on 26-30th December at the Maison des Associations, Salle Gandhi, 15 Rue des Savoises, CH – 1205 Genève, Switzerland. 

The Masters Tournament (elo above 1800) had 50 participants and was played over 7 rounds of Swiss format.

Top seed Etienne Bacrot and Vadim Malakhatko shared the first place with 5,5 points each. The two Grandmasters drew each other in the final round.

The General Tournament (U1800) had 42 participants. French player Khaled Cherrad took clear first place with 6,0/7 points.
