Side events are free for Grand Pacific Open players.
Otherwise, a $10 pass pays the entry for all the side events.
There will be a Victoria Chess Challenge (open to K-12 students from BC and out of province and out of country) on Friday April 2 starting at 12 noon. This event is a qualifier for the BC Chess Challenge to be held April 10 in Richmond BC (BC residents only).
An active tournament will run at the same time (open to all ages).
The Midnight Blitz is back this year with a $100 prize fund. Starts at 10 or asap Saturday evening and ends 1130pm
A Bughouse tournament will start at 2 pm on April 5 immediately after the last round of the Grand Pacific Open.

Tournament Report
2011 Grand Pacific Open April 22-25 2011 in Victoria Canada Mark your calendars now.
87 players played in this years edition of the Grand Pacific Open, a new record for us. Participants came from all over with a good contingent from Alberta and Washington/Oregon and several from Ontario. This year’s prize for furthest distance travelled goes to Polly Wright who made it here from New York.
International Master Lawrence Day won clear first with 5.5/6 and took home the first prize of $1000. The complete list of prize winners and crosstable is given below.
