Here are the results of the Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics Tournament on Saturday, five rounds, G30.

There were 24 participants!

1st Place Trophy – Lintu Ramachandran, 5.0
2nd Place – Junda Chen, 4.0 on tiebreaker
3rd Place – Daniel Dodds, 4.0
Top Unrated Trophy – Joshua Meigs, 3.0
Biggest Upset Trophy – Mark Kalata, 3.0 (rated 100, defeated an opponent rated 830)
Best Woman – Sara Gramling, 3.0

Note that there were four ladies that participated. Sara’s score of 3.0 was respectable indeed. We would love to see Sara and the other ladies at the State Scholastic in the Spring of ’08. The winner will get a trip to represent the state at the Polgar Invitational.

This was reported by David Grimaud, Vice President of the South Carolina Chess Association. Thanks David! Keep up the good work!
