The 2014 edition of Alkaloid International Rapid Chess Tournament took place on 23rd November 2014 at Hotel Continental in Skopje, the capital and largest city of the Former Republic of Macedonia.
The event was organized by Chess Club Alkaloid – Skopje in a 9-round Swiss FIDE Rapid format with tempo of play 15′ + 5″.
145 players from 7 different countries took part in the competition, including 8 GMs, 8 IMs, 13 FMs and 3 WIMs.
Bulgarian GM Kiril Georgiev topped the event on 8/9 points, leaving the runner-up GM Boris Chatalbashev half point behind.
The winner started with amazing string of seven consecutive victories and secured the gold with equal results the last two rounds. Georgiev lifted the trophy deservedly and grabbed the first prize in the amount of 25.000 MKD (nearly 400 €).
