Copenhagen

The 11th Copenhagen Chess Challenge took place from 29th April to 3rd May, 2015, in Ballerup, a Danish town, seat of the Ballerup Municipality, in the Region Hovedstaden.

The event was a 9-round Swiss tournament, organized by Chess Club BMS Skak, in collaboration with the Copenhagen Chess Federation (KSU), the Danish Chess Federation (DSU), the Support Federation of the Danish Chess Federation (DSUS).

GM Henrik Danielsen from Iceland and IM Thorsten Michael Haub from Germany shared the first place with 7/9 points but Danielsen prevailed on a superior tie-break score and lifted the trophy.

Haub remained second, but he was happy to score his third and final GM norm.

The third place was shared in a five-way tie by IM Miklos Galyas (Hungary), IM Benjamin Gledura (Hungary), GM Daniel Semcesen (Sweden), IM Bjorn Ahlander (Sweden) and IM Jens Ove Fries (Denmark), after the whole group finished the event with 6.5 points.

The 4 rating prices were won by:
Group 1 (FIDE rating 2251-2400): IM Björn Ahlander, Sweden (2372) 6½
Group 2 (FIDE rating 2101-2250): Nicolai Kvist Brondt Pedersen, Denmark (2146) 5½
Group 3 (FIDE rating 1901-2100): Kjell Håkon Lien, Norway (2054) 5
Group 4 (FIDE rating 1000-1900): Andreas Fossan, Norway (1873) 4

The next edition of  CCC will be on April, 20 – 24, 2016!
