GM Bitoon prevails in chess exhibition

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippines newest Grand Master (GM) Richard Bitoon flashed his deadly form in a magnificent performance in a rare simultaneous chess exhibition held Friday.

The 2011 SSS Inter Group 24 Boards Simultaneous Chess Exhibition was hled at the SSS Canteen in East Avenue, Diliman, Quezon City.

Bitoon, who hails from Medellin, Cebu, played over 24 boards and tallied 17 wins, 2 losses and 5 draws. He played against the top players from the SSS Chess Club.

Ex-Olympian and National Master Shercial Cua and Rey Valencerina beat GM Bitoon while Emerito Perez, Christopher Prado, Dennis Remit, Rene Morados and 2-time SSS champion Robert Gene Marion salvaged a draw. By Marlon Bernardino
