What a list! Susan, thanks for representing chess so well!
I hope that this does not become another exercize in America bashing. There’s been a lot international meets on benign subjects that turned into America bashing.
Why is Jack trolling? I saw the LIVE video feed last year and it’s very productive. These attendees have net worth in the billions and they could potentially help chess because of Susan. She’s the only chess player invited to this very prestigious event. Why such negativity?
Jack is not ‘trolling’: he’s making an appropriate comment.
‘Troll’ has suddenly become a popular word on this blog, but it’s not one that SP uses herself – is it?
It is usually used here to object to a post that someone wishes hadn’t been posted: I doubt that all such posts are trolls.
We in America have much to be proud of and much to be concerned about. Discussing the concerns is not necessarily ‘America bashing’.
If you think this is a troll, just don’t reply.
An interesting list, and they are among “the best brains of our generation” but they aren’t actually THE best.
I don’t see Condoleeza Rice, George Bush here. I don’t see Richard Breeden (ex SEC) who condemned Conrad Black – and Henry Kissinger – at Hollinger. Where are the Nobel Prizewinners, the Fields medallists.
However, it is an eclectic, cross-disciplinary gathering, and will achieve more in the subsequent networking than ‘in session’. Not a place to promote personal agendas though.
Maybe too much emphasis on the brain: who was it said “The cleverest thing is to convert thinking into doing”?
I’ll tune in to some of this if it’s on the web.
It is not ‘best brains’ but ‘creative leadership’. A Fields Medallist might have no social skills and nothing to add to such an event.
As for George and Condoleeza, maybe they are part of the problem not part of the solution.
I wonder what solutions they come up with for the Global Warming problem.
