Girls chess league set

THE Bahrain Mind Sports Association (BMSA) is organising its first girls chess league starting on Saturday from 5pm onwards at its premises in Muharraq.

BMSA director Shaker Al Afoo said seven girls have so far confirmed their entries for the season and registration is still open for those who wish to take part.

“We are expecting between 10 and 15 girls to be in the fray and the matches will be played every Thursday and Friday at our headquarters,” said Al Afoo.

“All girls are welcome to submit their names for the league which features matches of a double round robin system,” he said.

“We are also holding a training programme for chess beginners in Muharraq starting on Friday and its concludes on November 15.

Around 20 members are expected to take part,” said Al Afoo.

Al Afoo also added that the BMSA is having a meeting with the chess players in Bahrain on Wednesday at 7pm to brief them on next season’s programme as well as hearing views and suggestions from the players concerning the new season.Posted by Picasa
