The Gibraltar Chess Festival 2012 continues to bring excitement to the chess calendar, this time attracting not only some of the best Grandmasters, but also the women chess elite. As a result of that just a few days ago we witnessed the battle between Judit Polgar, the top rated women on the planet for many years, and Humpy Koneru, World Chess Championship finalist (replay the game here).
Today it gets even better, as we will see Judit Polgar play with the World Champion Yifan Hou. Follow the game at this here at this article and here with computer analysis starting at 15:00 CET.

I have not seen a game so wonderfully anticipated as this one in a very very long time…Hou and Judit. I honestly don’t care who wins..actually I never care about that sort of thing..I just love to see nice ideas. I hope the ladies serve it up.This is historic. Good luck to both.
I’m watching this game live..like everyone else. BH5 ..I don’t get. It’s like tellling Black…YOU do something! Interesting psychology.
Sasi ground down Hou Yifan in round five and Short ( so often put down these days ) proved that he can still be a tough customer as he comprehensively ‘out-tacticed’ Humpy in round six. Congrats to both.
Hou Yifan beat Judit Polgar! Judit is not that invincible any more!
Super win by Hou and a humbling experience for the great Judith. With this win Hou has cemented the value of her World Crown. In a couple of years Hou definitely should touch the 2700’s. Of course as far as women’s chess goes, ‘one swallow does not a summer make’. Congrats Hou Yifan.
I always wondered how Judit would do against the World Champion female. now I know
‘one swallow does not a summer make’
Yes, but I think if you look at this tournament, you might see that there are quite a number of swallows flying around.
Emphatic statement by Hou Yifan and a wake up call for Judith.
But again, I would want to see them play each other at their primes, when Judith was a violent attacker and much hungrier to win.
Having a baby can do all sorts of things to you.
before this game, i was happy that an exciting game is coming no matters who wins. After this game, i am convinced i have full support for this little wonder girl. She can change any record……
This is only one game. Let us do not get carried away. It is great to see a number of strong plays by female players. Together it makes an exiting statement. Wow.
