Kojo Hasford wins Dutch Pub Open Championship

Accra , Nov 13, GNA – Kojo Hasford from Ghana emerged the winner of the Dutch Pub Open Championship, held at the Dutch Pub in Accra.

Hassford gathered 5.5 points out of six games to win the ultimate prize which came with an attractive cash prize.

Kwadwo Bonsu and Edward Thompson also from Ghana were joint runners with a total four points each out of six games played.

Sekou Nkrumah and Nii Koney from Ghana came up with the 3rd position with a total win of 3.5 points out of six games played.

A statement signed by Christine Ashley, Secretary General of the Ghana Chess Association copied to GNA Sports, said the event which attracted about twenty five chess players, both from Ghana and Holland was meant at unearthing new chess players and to set the tone for the formation of the Dutch Pub Chess Club.

It said the Association will henceforth hold regular Chess competitions and training sessions at the Dutch Pub,to sustain the new found interest of the sport in the country.

The statement expressed appreciation to the National Sports Authority (NSA) and the media for the successful organization of the event.
