If Ra5 wasn’t there, we would have R2c5#.
So, let’s chase Ra5.
1. b4! Rb5
other moves are answered with R2c5# or bxa5.
2. a4! e3 (only king escape, Rxb4 R2c5#)
3, axb5
and white wins easily with his extra rook.
1. b4 wins a R because of the threat R2c5#
1…Rb5 2 a4
1…R:a2 2. Ne7+ and 3. R:a2
1…Rd2+ 2. R:d2+ K:c6 3. Rd6+ and 4. ab (or 2…B:d2 3. Rd6+ and 4. ab)
Took me too long.
1. b4! Rd2+
(1……. Rb5
2. a4! Rxb4
3. R2c5#)
2. Rxd2! Kxc6
( 2….. Bxd2
3. Rd6+ K–
4. Rxd2 +- )
3. Rc2+!
and black loses his rook.
1-0
Hope there is no mistake in this line.
i think, it would be a good decision to attack the black rook on a5:
1. b4 Rb5
2. a4 Rd2+
3. Rxd2 Bxd2
4. Rd6+ any
5. axb5
greets, jan
Black K is hoelessly placed.Without black R on 5th rank thereis instant mate by R(2)c5.unfortunately black r does not have many comfortable places on 5th rank.
1 b4! hits the nail on the head.
1… Rxa2 hoping for 2Rxa2 KxR is met by 2 Ne7+ followed by 3 Rxa2.
1…. Rb5
2 a4 wins.
Haridaran seems to have the best analyzis here.
1. b4 Rd2+
2. Rxd2+ Bxd2
3. Rd6+ Kc4
4. bxa5 (better than Rxd2)
is up with a rook.
2. … Kxc6
3. Rc2+ Kb5
4. bxa5
is also up with a rook.
