LINDSBORG – Chess grandmaster Timur Gareev will attempt an American record Wednesday by playing simultaneous chess blindfolded against 40 students at the Anatoly Karpov International School of Chess.
This “mental feat” beginning at noon Wednesday, will attempt to establish the U.S. record for such an event, or possibly a world record, said Wes Fisk, secretary of the chess school. The former Lindsborg resident now lives near Vancouver, Wash.
Gareev’s opponents will not be wearing blindfolds. Gabriel Purdy, the chess school manager, will call out the moves from each board, Fisk said, and Gareev will instruct his counter moves.
The current world record for simultaneous blindfolded chess is held by the German Grandmaster Marc Lang, who played 46 players in Sontheim, Germany in November 2011, according to a press release from the chess school in Lindsborg.

Impressive.
i read at one time where a chess master was to play a sumul and all of his opponents made knight moves for 2-5 moves. the master said he needed to use the rest room and after about 30 minutes people went looking for him in the rest room only to find an open window to the outside.
good luck!!!!!!
