As per the decision of ACP World Cup commentator Viktor Korchnoi, Alexander Moiseenko was awarded a special prize for the best game (Moiseenko – Bacrot 1-0), named after the Odessa IM Mikhail Podgaets. Podgaets passed away in Odessa on 14 May 2009.
On 24 May, before the final, there also was a traditional Kids vs GMs event. Time control: 5 min blitz; GMs played blindfold. Children scored half a point in 10 games: there is a PGN-Kids game link at the official website.
