  White has 2 mate threats on the board, Qh8 and Nxe7. Every black move must be a check, until both threats are neutralized. Black has two check moves on the board, Qg2 and Qxh2. Qxh2 doesn’t seem to lead to much, so let’s true Qg2, which gives white two choices.

  1. Qg2+ (a) Rxg2
  2. Qxe1+ Rg1
  3. Qxg1+ Kxg1
  4. Rd1+ Kg2 or Kf2
  5. fxg6
  The white queen can’t mate by herself, so the two threats are gone. Black has two rooks and a bishop against a queen, which is decent odds.

  1. … (b) Kxg2
  2. Qxg6+ Qxg6
  3. fxg6
  The threats are gone. Black is up a bishop.

  I have read all 4 comments.First I took them on face value but now I feel something is remaining.
  1…. Qg2+
  In the actual game black played 1… Qxh2+ and resigned after 2Kxh2 Qc2+ 3 Kh1.
  2Kxg2 Qxg6+
  3Kh1!? Kg7
  Now 4Rh2 intending to double is met by 4… Qxg2+ 5Kxg2 Rh8 traps white Q.
  4Rxg6+ fxg6
  5Rg1 g5
  6f4 Rfxf4
  6…. Rdxf4 leads to easy draw.
  7Rxg5+ Bxg5 8Qxg6+ leads to perpetual check as black K can not shift to f file on account of hanging R at f4.
  7Qe8 and both sides must say precisely although black has good chances of winning.

  I don’t understand this “fancy” 1-Qg2+, since it’s bad!

  1.-fxg6 is winning move for black.
  2.Rxg6+ Kf7 and black escapes
  If 2.Rxb1, then Qc2 -+
