This has to be one of the best singles ads ever printed. It is reported to have been listed in the Atlanta Journal.
SINGLE BLACK FEMALE seeks male companionship, ethnicity unimportant. I’m a very good girl who LOVES to play. I love long walks in the woods, riding in your pickup truck, hunting, camping and fishing trips, cozy winter nights lying by the fire. Candlelight dinners will have me eating out of your hand. I’ll be at the front door when you get home from work, wearing only what nature gave me. Call (404) 555-5555 and ask for Daisy, I’ll be waiting….

Over 15,000 men found themselves talking to the Atlanta Humane Society!

While this one is harmless and fun, some “urban legends” like this underscore a political or a cultural point and deserved to be checked out- particularly if they proport to tell of some instance of extreme behavior or stupitidy. An excellent (and fun) resource for this is a website called:

In my experience MOST stores that make the e-mail rounds, particularly those that purport to be about human stupidity, are either not true, or are exaggerated.

In other words, we’re not really as dumb as we think!
That said, here’s guy on the French Version of “Who Want’s to Be a Millionaire” who didn’t know that it was the moon that orbited the Earth, not the sun… so maybe we’re doomed after all. 🙂

One April issue of “In Dublin” many years ago had the following personal:
Girl, 7’3″, seeks guy 7’6″, or two guys 3’9″.
Here is a link to the urban legend:
