Monroi is eroding the long standing that chess games are public domain!
Boycott Monroi because of this.
If you use their site, they want you to agree that the games are in copywrite, which they are not.
That is the games themselves, without annotations.
I believe annotations and commentary should be copywrited by the person doing it!
The games, NOT!
this is simply not true. check the thread at http://boylston-chess-club.blogspot.com/, and the comment:
“This is a non-issue. Later in the thread, Chris Bird provided a reply from MonRoi confirming that the game scores are not copyrighted:
“The copyright disclaimer at the MonRoi’s World Databank of Chess (“WDC”) is for collection of data organized in a proprietary format- SQL database, and for live games; and not for copyrights of individual matches.”
They explicitly say later:
“However, individual copyrights of games no one owns, as far as we know.”
