Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
I think this will be a tough match for the US men in particular. The French men’s team has scored some impressive upsets, and I don’t think the US team has played to its potential.
French will lose both matches!
With Gata and Krush their will be no French Resistance just as in WWII!
Go USA!!!!!!!!
It should be Gold or failure for USA. Years from now, people will only remember the Champion, the Winner, the #1. No one will remember the runner up or the ridiculous title vice-champion.
The US did come back with 2 Gold. So what is your point? They came back with 2 Gold and 2 Silver.
They didn’t come back yet. There are 4 rounds left. We want Gold. Not failure.
To suggest that only gold is worth anything shows a complete lack of realistic thinking….
If a team is rated 10th and they get a bronze, that is a great performance.
Thankfully, most people who follow the game have worked that out.
The US are ranked 5th, yes Gold would be a wonderful thing, but to say anything less is worthless is a sure fire way to get disappointed.
Phil, you are wrong, Susan herself says “Years from now, people will only remember the Champion, the Winner, the #1. No one will remember the runner up or the ridiculous title vice-champion.”
