FM Pablo Salinas defended his title at the Chilean National Championship 2012-2013 that took place on 13-22 February at Iquique, Chile.

Salinas finished the event undefeated with 5 wins and 6 draws. This was enough to obtain 8/11 points and a clear first place. The FIDE Master took the first prize of 650.000 Chilean pesos (approx 1.400 USD).

Secon place went for FM Cristobal Torrez, who summed 7.5 points and only lost his first round game against Nicolas Abarca.

They played a closed 11 round tournament. The 12 participants were made of the ones that qualified from the regional semifinals, 2012 champion Salinas and a player nominated by the local organizers.
