Bachar Kouatly became the first French Grandmaster in 1989. He is the owner and editor of Europe Echecs, the largest French monthly chess magazine.
The French Chess Federation held its electoral General Assembly on Saturday 10th December.
The delegates from the chess clubs were electing the new President and Board members.
The list of Bachar Kouatly won 62.29% of the votes and 20 seats in the Board. The list of Stéphane Escafre won 35,69% and 4 seats in the Board. The list of Philippe Dornbusch had 2.02% of the votes.
