Australia was the only Continent by today that FIDE hasn’t been able to organize an official FIDE Trainers’ Seminar. But with the sponsorship of the ‘Asian Chess Federation’, FIDE & TRG can now be proud of having contacted seminars in all five Continents!

The seminar was held in Melbourne and was co-organised by the FIDE, the Asian Chess Federation (ACF), the FIDE Trainers’ Commission (TRG), the Australian Chess Federation (ACF) and the Chess Victoria Club (who generously hosted the event).

The seminar was held April 11th to 13th, 2014 and sixteen trainers participated (13 from Australia, 2 from Chinese Taipei and 1 from Estonia). The Lecturers were GM/FST/IA/IO Efstratios Grivas (Greece), who is also the Secretary of the FIDE Trainers’ Commission and FT NY Wong (Australia-Assistant). Here is the relative ‘proof’:

And of course, here are the Results of the participants: RESULTS (pdf)

And as it is customary, here is the ‘family’ photo:

Well, everything run smoothly and more or less everyone was happy to learn something more in training and obtaining certification on his/her level. Proper chess-training is a bit more difficult than it sounds and trainers have to improve their level…

For me it was a bit of experience as well, as now I can easily call myself the ‘Trainer of the five Continents’, as I have given training seminars and workshops in all five Continents! Well, it seems that the world is not enough anymore…

Ending this report, I would like to thank the Australian CF and its President Gary Wastell, the Secretary Kerry Stead (who attended and enjoyed the seminar as well!), my Assistant NY Wong who took care of every big and small detail to please the participants and the Chess Victoria Club for the excellent organization and the facilities provided.

The Lecturer
Efstratios Grivas
