Kirsan Ilyumzhinov congratulates the winner of the World Cup 2007
The Head of the Republic of Kalmykia, the FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov met the winner of the World Cup 2007 Grandmaster Gata Kamsky of USA in the Kalmyk Embassy in Moscow on the 18th of December 2007.
During this meeting Kirsan Ilyumzhinov sincerely congratulated Gata with his outstanding victory in the tournament and they discussed organizing issues of the Challenger Match vs Topalov scheduled to be held in autumn next year.
GM Kamsky thanked the President of the World Chess Federation for his successful solution of the world chess community problems including the World Chess Championship Cycle that is the most important one in the American Grandmaster`s opinion.
Also Gata Kamsky sent his warmest regards and best wishes of Happy New Year to the chess players of Kalmykia whose support as he admitted he always felt since the Match vs Karpov in 1996 in Elista.
