You can also find the relevant banner (FIDE Arbiters’ Commission) in the front page of the FIDE website (www.fide.com).

The website will work as an information centre for all Chess Arbiters (National, FIDE and International Arbiters).

It will serve as a web area where Arbiters, Federations and other chess organizations or individuals, will be able to find all kind of information regarding arbitration in chess. There will also be a section where everyone will be able to send questions regarding the interpretation of the Laws and Regulations of Chess, as well as to send information about incidents that occurred during games and receive official answers, if needed.

Message from FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov

Dear FIDE Members,

It gives me great pleasure to welcome FIDE Members to a new Commission site. The Arbiter in chess represents not only the functions of a referee but also organiser, mentor and motivator for players all over the world. They selflessly run around organising events for players in all locations to allow people to enjoy our wonderful sport.

The launch of the website is timely and follows the efforts of the Commission to disseminate information and push the bar upwards for Arbiters to seek improvement in their technical standards. The introduction of training seminars a few years ago have proved very successful and FIDE member Federations are continuously seeing to organise them to advance their arbiters. We look forward to the introduction also of more webinars as a means of permitting more countries from the FIDE family to participate in this critical development area.

2011 will also be a year of major focus on all development areas by FIDE and the Arbiter’s Commission will play a leading role in this strategic program.

GENS UNA SUMUS!
Kirsan Ilyumzhinov
FIDE President
