G. Borg referred to the mutual interests of the parties and all stakeholders to keep chess events at the highest possible level and on a solid financial basis.

This is good news.
Yes, it is good to see FIDE and the Global Chess organization working together.
Is Peter R. (author of that post) related to Zita?
It is unbelieveable that George Macropoulos,an architect of the WCC match at Elista, is still around.
Anonymous 2:47 you should know that Makropoulos is of the oldest people in FIDE. He is deputy president (second in rank after Kirsan). He has been in this position and as vice-president since the days of Campomanes (i.e. even before Kirsan). He (arguably) has done a lot of things about chess.
And even if you believe that he messed up the elista match (other would say it was Danailov, others would say it was Kramnik and so on) he cannot be thrown out because of one (even big) mistake.
Finally, you wouldn’t expect someone to throw out himself, would you? And I think is fair to say that Makropoulos is of the main people deciding for FIDE (for good or bad).
