Ukrainian Grandmaster Sergey Fedorchuk grabbed the winner’s trophy at the Vladimir Petrov Memorial 2014 after narrowly edging GM Aleksej Aleksandrov in the race for the first place. Fedorchuk finished with 12 points from 15 games, while Aleksandrov had 11,5 points, leaving the next group a full point behind.

Vladimir Petrov Memorial was organized by the Latvian Chess Federation and Grandmaster Alexei Shirov with the aim to pay tribute to one of the brightest representatives of Latvian Chess ever who tragically died in Soviet camps during the Second World War.

The main event was Tournament A, won by Fedorchuk, a 15-round Swiss event with the rapid time control 15 min + 6 sec.

Tournament B (for players rated 1875-2324) and Tournament C (U1875) were 12-round Swiss events with the time control 12 min + 5 sec. Full standings for all sections are below.

The Blitz Tournament was held on 20th February in the Amber Beach resort (Jaunkemeri). The winner was Russian Grandmaster Vladimir Dobrov.
