More excellent chess from Ivanchuk.
Long live Vasyl’ Mykhaylovych Ivanchuk!!!
If he beats Hare-Krishna tomorrow, does he have a chance to get #1 ranking?
According to my calculations, in such case he will be a bit above Kramnik (Ivanchuk ~2785 vs Kramnik ~2780), but still behind Anand (i.e. no 2 in the world).
Anand & Kramnik will surely won’t play until Mexico, and Mexico probably won’t be included in Oct list since it finishes on Oct 1.
Also I don’t think Topalov will play anything before Oct since he only plays in super-super tournaments (unlike Chucky..), and there aren’t any coming soon.
So unless Ivanchuk will play other tournaments before Oct, he should be number 2 (but as it seems now, he will probably play other tournaments before that, so everything is open…)
