Sarasadat Khadem al-Sharieh – the winner of the bronze medal in the 2011 World Youth Chess Championships – conceded 1 – 0 defeat in a match played against her British rival Amy Hoare in U16-Girls section on Thursday.
Her loss in her first match was the first unexpected event to register at this tournament.
Sina Dokhtmirzahassanvahid also lost 0-1 to his Latvian rival Aleksandrs Jazdanovs in the U10-Open class. Amirsalar Javidfard was defeated 1-0 in the U16-Open category in a match played against Gary Giroyan from France.

The 2012 World Youth Chess Championship opened in the northeastern Slovenian city of Maribor on November 7, and will wrap up on November 19.
A total of 1,587 young chess players from 93 countries will compete in various age categories during the sports event.
