I am on my way back to New York after an incredibly successful weekend in Brownsville, Texas. The support from the South Texas educators for the premiere of the SPF Chess Coach Certification Course was overwhelming!
This is the first time I publicly introduce the exclusive chess teaching method that I created. My system is based on the Russian teaching method, the Polgar method and my 30+ years of experience in chess. It has been successfully tested over the years.
Each of the 60 educators received a Polgar chess set and board, carrying bag, animated chess DVD, demo board, digital clock, official curriculum, etc. (almost $200 total value). They will also receive exclusive e-mail support and special web content access.
In addition to the official course certificate, each teacher also receives 12 official credits! We are also working hard to put chess as part of the curriculum in every school in Brownsville. We are also working to do the same for the entire state of Texas. I would like to thank Dr. Cantu, Dr. Z and Mr. Hammons for their full support for this wonderful project!
I am soooo jealous!!

Don’t worry John! We will figure out something to help our friends up north.
Best wishes,

Cool picture – it works upside down too!
Do the chess educators have to know anything about chess?
Yes, they play chess. But they want to improve their teaching skills to better benefit the children.

Nice going. I play chess but I just can not teach it. it really takes something special to teach chess. wish I could go and find out how to do it.
Maybe when you get up into New England.
but nice going and I am proud of you. You are doing a super job.

This is good. I hope you’ll come to Southern California.
Texas is the test pilot I hope for a future chess curriculum program for all of American schools nationwide! Young people interacting with all races can go a long way to mend racial problems and young people with active minds and excessive energy expressing themselves on a chessboard could curb gangs and violence! It is a magnificent idea you have begun implementing Susan using Russian formula your own experience and creating The Polgar Method! God Bless You Susan and get a patent! ; )

Why should chess be a part of the curriculum in every school? Isn’t it better to go outside on fresh air and play soccer? Unless chess is some sort of like science, not a sport.
What exactly is “The Polgar Method”?
Anon, because chess helps children concentrate and learn patience. Developing a chess plan, watching out for blunders, looking for ways to create a win, helps sharpen learning skills. Also chess teaches sportsmanship, competition, and is a good way to establish friendships especially in shy children. The Polgar method is what she desribed in this article, also it is a program she developed especially for children. Fresh air and kicking a ball around is good physical fitness training but nowhere near as useful for learning and the above stated.
