Under Patronage of Eng. Khaled Abdel Aziz, Minister of Youth & Sports, the Egyptian Chess Federation is pleased to invite you to participate in the EGYPT Chess Open 2016, which will be held from 21st – 30th April 2016 at the at Shooting Club & El Gezira Youth Center in Cairo.
The tournament is open to all Fide-rated players with a standard rating of 1000 and above (as of 1st April 2016) – Online ratings & titles are not accepted. Last day of registration & payment is 17th April 2016.
The playing format is 9-Rounds Swiss System, Time Control: 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment per move for the whole game.
The total prize fund of the tournament is 80,000 L.E. , which is more than US $ 10,000. The winner will take L.E. 12,000 + Cup.

The Egyptian Chess Federation is also organizing a historic Chess event: Blitz tournament in Cairo on 26th April 2016 with old Arabic laws of chess (SHATRANJ rules).
This is to celebrate the contribution of Arab era of Chess game and the pass of 1070 years since the demise of the greatest Arab chess master Abu Bakr bin Yahya al-Suli, who was born in 880 and died in 946.
