Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
I am excited for the USA players!
Go Antal!
Interesting field, however, how come a player like Mackinnon was invited?! Is he a young and rising kid? ELO 2125 sure promises a hard time for him…
He won a qualification tournament for a spot in the event.
even though he will likely go 0/9, it will be a good experience for young Keith Mackinnon (12 years old)
Actually, I won’t go 0/9, and I’m 16.
Why only 4.5/9 for an IM norm for McKinnon?
The reason that it’s only 4.5/9 for MacKinnon is because the average rating of his opponents is well over 2450 whereas the average rating including Keith is under 2450.
young keith will have a great experience but may not score half a point
Keith Mackinnon is considered by some to be the greatest ever player hailing from Saskatchewan, Canada. His rating is extremely underrated because of his geographical location. He knows that he will be contending for the top places and anything less than 50% in this field will be a big disappointment to him and his fans.
fans? what fans?
