ECU wins a court case against Croatian Chess Federation

In a press release today, the European Chess Union announced that they have won a case is CAS against the Croatian Chess Federation. The lawsuit regarding the European Club Cup 2012 started in May this year, and according to ECU has come to an end.

On May 20, 2011, the Croatian Chess Federation filed an Appeal at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against the decision of the ECU from March 29, 2011 to award the European Club Cup (men and women) 2012 to Eilat, Israel.

In the arbitration between the Croatian Chess Federation and the European Chess Union, the CAS and the Sole Arbitrator Prof. Petros Mavroidis delivered the Arbitral Award on October 25, 2011.

The appeal filed by the Croatian Chess Federation on May 20, 2011 against the decision of the European Chess Union dated from March 29, 2011 was dismissed.

ECU vs TCF case

With this case complete, the ECU now turns to another legal battle, where the President of TCF Ali Nihat Yazici is filing against the decisions of the 2013 European Youth Chess Championship and the 2013 Senior Team Championship. More information about the new case here.
