At the meeting on 24th October in Batumi/Georgia, the ECU Board appointed the new ECU Commissions: Educational Commission, Events Commission, Arbiters Council and Women’s Commission.

The Chairman of the Educational Commission is Jesper Hall from Sweden, and the Secretary is Alexander Kostyev from Russia. Other members of the Educational Commission are Ferenc Maurer (HUN), Pigasios Hatzinikolaou (CYP), John Foley (ENG), Giorgi Giorgadze (GEO), Walter Raedler (GER), Darko Polimac (IRL), Boro Miljanic (MNE) and Kasim Yekeler (TUR).

The Chairman of the Arbiters Council is Armenian Ashot Vardapetyan, while the Secretary is Tomasz Delega from Poland. Other members are Halil Hilmi Dari (TUR), Gregor Neff (AUT) and Marika Japaridze (GEO).

The Events Commission consists of 7 members, and the Chairman is Gunnar Bjornsson, President of Iceland Chess Federation. Secretary is Sotiris Logothetis from Greece. Other members are Gunter Delhaes (BEL), Joachim Gries (GER) and Milan Maros (SVK), while the Ad Hoc members are the Tournament Director Petr Pisk (CZE) and Seniors Tournament Director Johann Poecksteiner (AUT).

The last commission formed in Batumi is ECU Women Commission, which Chairman is IM Almira Skripchenko from France, and the Secretary is Fiona Steil Antoni from Luxembourg. Other members of the commission are Majlinda Pilinci (ALB), Niki Vrbova (SVK) and Ilana David Glaz (ISR).

In the next ECU Board meeting will be discussed the operational plan for each commission and any other proposal from the Commissions’ Chairmen.
