German GM Robert Hübner turns 60 today. In the 1970s and 1980s Hübner was one of the world’s best chess players, three times qualifying to the Candidates’ matches. In 1985 he shared first place with Ljubojevic at Linares.
With his current rating of 2600 Hübner is No 7 in Germany. He is known for his extremely detailed chess analysis. Dr. Hübner is also an expert in Egyptian hieroglyphics.
