Cuban Chess Players Remain Undefeated in Baku

Guantanamo (Solvision).- Cuban chess players, Lazaro Bruzon and Leinier Dominguez, on Monday remained undefeated in the Baku Open 2011 chess tournament. On Sunday, Bruzon, 2,673 ELO points, won for the second time in the tourney, after defeating Ukranian Natalia Zhukova in the second date of competitions.

According to the tie-break system, Bruzon places seventh in the qualification chart, which is headed by Spanish Francisco Vallejo (2,724), who defeated Georgian Tornike Sanikidze (2,525) on Sunday.

Dominguez (2,719) tied with Azerbaijani Sarhan Guliev (2,500) and places 15th , in a group where 11 players totaled 1,5 points.

Following Vallejo, the qualification round leaders include Azerbaijani Anar Allahverdiev (2,421), Russians Aleksey Dreev (2,711) and Dmitry Andreikin (2,696), Israeli Emil Sutovsky (2,700), and Belorussian Sergei Zhigalko (2,689).
