Five days is a little harsh, but not unreasonably so. She didn’t seem to be taking the proceedings very seriously.
But wait! Perhaps I simply misheard the video the first time, but according to the version at http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/02/04/penelope-soto-flips-off-judge-bird_n_2617828.html he then increased the sentence to 30 days.
That’s far too much.
Since the judge is contemptible, the young lady has a better right to hold the judge in contempt than the judge had a right to hold her in contempt.
