Youths get their chess legs

Three of the seven tournaments in the 2007-08 Denver Scholastic Chess Series have been completed, with more than 180 children participating in at least one of the events.
The Unrated Divisions are appropriate for children with limited tournament experience in the beginning stages of their chess careers.
After doing well here, they can move into Rated Divisions to compete with experienced players.
Here are the DSCS leaders through three events (overall standings and information about series at ColoradoMaster Chess.com):
* K-3 Unrated Division: Mitchell Watkins, Colin Cannici, Anudari Sharavdorj, Arvin Bilegsaikhan, Cyprien Toffa, Grant Miller.
* 4-6 Unrated: Burke Snowden, David Leede, Chandler Toffa, Javier Hollines and Alessandro Piras.
* 7-9 Unrated: Dan Morgan-Russell and Matthew Haney.
* K-3 Rated Division: Roman Mary, Samuel Cohen, Zoe Leroux, William Herbst and Julia Ulziisaikhan.
* 4-6 Rated: Daniel Zhou, Alex Li, Alexander Jensen, Jake Watkins and Catherine Weaver.
* 7-12 Rated: Dave Bitzko, Carson Snart, Melissa Leroux, Blake Naito and Travis Fox.
Remaining tournaments in the series are: Jan. 12, Feb. 9, March 1 and March 22.
