Very nice and simple! Not easy to see!! 1)…..; Rg3+! – 2) Kh2; N:d2 …..
mr gilberto. your 1st move is o.k.
2nd move should be qd6.
U R right. Black wins a piece. I had thought of 2… Qc7 but 2…. Qd6 serves the same purpose.
1…. Rg3+ 2.kh2 Qc7 3.Qe1 ( the only square where she can hide from R after discovered check.)Rd3+ (not 3…. Rxh4+ when 4.f4 saves the B) 4.Kg2 Rxd4 wins a piece.
Gilberto’s line is strongest, I think- you have to remember, if white plays Kh2, black will take the rook at f1 with check while protecting the rook at g3 from the king, thus 2. …Nd2 is correct since an eventual Ra3 will net a full rook which is more than a queen for rook gain.
And, I see this has already been pointed out below. Never mind.
I take a U turn from my 2…. Qc7 or 2…. Qd6. I thought 2…. Qc7 was better than 2…. Qd6 because of 3.Bc5 when black has to take the B and relinquish discovered check theme but it hardly matters white has to save his Q and not be able to take R.But 2…. Qc7 may not be good for black after 3.Qe1 Rd3+ 4.Be5! Nxe5 (4…. Qxe5 5.f4) 5.f4 black has to save his R when N is lost with no gain but still black’s position is better.
1 .. Rg3+
2 Kh2 [ 2 fxg3 Qe4+ followed by Nxd2]
2 … Rxh3+
3 Kxh3 Nxd2
4 Bxe5 Nxf1
and black is winning
qe4 is met by f3.
1. …Qe4 should win, too, though not quite as decisively:
1. …….Qe4
2. f3 Nd2
3. fe4 Rc4 -+
karthik m 4 nf15 bf4 knight is trapped
Black can also win by 1…Rg3+ 2.Kh2 Nxd2 3.Bxe5 Nxf1+ 4.Kh1 Ra3 when Karthik will not be trapped.
Yes, Prof. Bhat, this line seems to be the best. I had missed the N at f1 covering g3, so there’s really no need for Rxg3 at all.
*No need for Rxh3
Since the cat is out of the bag, I thought that it would be appropriate to post the game.
