I really wanted to play 1. R:e4 here, but it took a while to see why it works. After 1….R:e4 2. Nf3 and Black’s Q can no longer guard the R.
Not only that; with BN at e4 gone f2 needs no protection.Have a cake and eat it too!
I agree that it’s 1.Re4 and for the same reason. I looked at that very scrupulously.
