Bf6
I got the idea of 1.Bf6 almost instantly, but had to think a minute or two to make sure I wasn’t overestimating white’s second move if black takes with the rook. Pretty sure it is solid:
1. Bf6
Attacks the unprotected bishop at d8, and threatens 2.f8(Q) if black doesn’t take it with the rook.
1. ……….Rf6 (if there is a better move here, I will eat my hat)
2. Ra6
Skewering the king and rook. If the king goes to e7, white just takes at f6- the black king can’t both guard f8 and the rook from e7.
2. ………..Ke7 (nothing better)
3. Rf6 Kf8
4. Rf4
And white has a decisive edge, and an ending that isn’t particularly challenging.
R to A8
It works because of 1.Bf6 Bxf6 2. f8=Q which goes with check.
Yes, it’s important that White queens with check because otherwise Black would have the discovered attack Bd4+.
Af6!!. Se hizo famoso el golpe que recibió mi compatriota. Ya varios medios lo han publicado.
