Material: white is down a piece not looking for a mating pattern I would play 1.Rh8+ Kf7 2.Nd8+Ke8 3.Nxc6 Bxc6 4.Qc8+ Ke7 5.Qxf8+ Kd6 6.Qxg7 Bxh1 7.Rxh1 Pxe3 that is the 1st variation I looked at.

Yancey, agree it is mate in 5 with 4. Nc7+. As I said I guess a more elegant way may be possible.
Einsteinitz, it is mate in 8 as we both said with 4. Bf5+. In your note see move 6. Alternative Rg6. Which leads to 7. Rxg6+ and 8. Qd8# or 8. Qg7#
