I confess that if I got to this position in a game I would simply play 1. Rdg7 winning all the pieces on Black’s back rank for that rook after 1…Rg8 2. R:g8 R:g8 3. R:g8 Bb7 4. Rb8. But the mate was pretty easy to find once it was presented as a mate in 3. If only there were a little bell that would ring when I’m playing to tell me there was a pretty sacrifice in the air!
Very well done if you were struggling to see the backwards moves but managed to solve it anyway. I’ve made a bit of a breakthrough in terms of understanding how my autism was messing up my chess calculation in a couple of ways but at least my opponents had fun beating me in the games where that was a serious problem for me. I think I can get up to about county level now if I push myself a lot.
