1.Nxa6 Bxa6 2. Rxc6 Rxc6 3. Bxd5+ Kh8 4. Bxc6 and white is up 2 pawns for the easy win
1. Nxa6 Bxa6 2. Rxc6 (2… Rxc6 3. Bxd5+ etc.; 2… Rfd8 3. Bxd5+ Rxd5 4. Rxa6)
1.Nxa6! seems to win a pawn at least. The knight cannot be taken, see:
1. … Bxa6 2.Rxc6!! Rxc6 3.Bxd5+ Kh8 4.Bxc6 with two pawns plus.
Best for Black seems 1. … Kh8, declining the knight. However, after
2. Nc5 White has a strong passed pawn and should win.
White can just proceed with 2.Bd5 if black moves the king. Surely no better for black.
1. Nxa6 Bxa6
2. Rxc6
Now, 2… Rxc6?? 3. Bxd5+ should win If, 2… Rfd8? 3. Bxd5+ Rxd5 4. Rxa6 again should win. So,
2… Rff6! And I think, white has
3. Rxa6 Rxa6
4. Bxd6+ Kf8
5. Rxb5
White having 3 pawns for the exchange down, but can this win? I don’t know, probably a draw.
Black might limit the damage to just the loss of the a-pawn:
1. Na6! Be6!?
2. Nc5 Ne7
What better here for black? Ne7 protects the backward c-pawn. Continuing:
3. Ne6 Re6
4. e3
Now, white might be able to push here at move 4 with 4.d5, but that is more complex than the simple e3, and I can’t quite see all the complications right now with just a cursory look:
4. d5 cd5 (if Nd5 5.Rc6 is devastating for black)
5. Rb5
Looks just as good for white to me, so who knows?
