Cuban Chess Star Travels to World Blitz Championship

HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 4 (acn) Cuban chess player Leinier Dominguez will travel to Kazakhstan’s city Almaty to attend the World Blitz Chess Championships to run next Friday and Saturday.

Dominguez, currently 21st in the world ranking and only Latin American invited to this tournament, will face one of the toughest tests in his successful career, due to the presence of some of the best players in the world.

To this fourth edition of the tournament besides the Cuban player are attending Russians Alexander Morozevich, Peter Svidler and Alexander Grischuk, as well as Azerbaijanis Teimour Radjabov and Shakhriar Mamedyarov along Vassily Ivanchuk, Gata Kamsky, Rafael Vaganian, Vlad Tkachev, and Hungarian Judit Polgar among others.

The reigning champ in this world championship is the Ukrainian Ivanchuk.
