México, Dec 21.- Cuban Grand Master Lazaro Bruzon was proclaimed monarca of the 25th edition of the Chess tournament Carlos Torre in Memoriam, reports Mexican media today.

According to the official website of the event, the Caribbean player said goodbye to the competition when he declared a tie with his compatriot Yasser Quesada and completed seven of nine points possible.

Following Bruzon, who won the event undefeated, was Peruvian Emilio Cordova with identical score but below Bruzon in replay coefficient.

Third place went to another Cuban, Juan Carlos Obregón, with the same store but also below in tiebreaks.

Seven points were also scored by Caribbean Elier Miranda and local Luis Carlos Torre, who finished fourth and fifth. (Prensa Latina)
