The Commonwealth Chess Championship 2016 begins in Grand style!
The Commonwealth Chess Championship 2016 was started yesterday at the Citrus Waskaduwa in presence of Commonwealth Chess Association, Mr. Bharat Sing and the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka officials.
A total of 360 players are participating in the event from 10 Countries, India, South Africa, Malaysia, Australia, Pakistan, England, Maldives, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. A total of 09 Grand masters including the reigning Champion, GM Abjit Gupta, 02 Women Grand masters, 06 IMs and 04 WIMs with several other title players are participating the event.
This 9 round Swiss system Championships consists of Commonwealth Youth Chess Championships of Under 8, 10, 12 and 14 events as well. The event will be continued till 6th August 2016 at the beautiful Citrus Waskaduwa in Western beach of Sri Lanka.
